Peach BBQ Sauce

Peach BBQ sauce with a rich tomato base and fruit-forward flavor from fresh peaches, simmered until thick enough to coat a spoon. This homemade peach BBQ sauce blends smooth, then optionally simmers again for extra gloss and cling.

Ingredients
  

Peaches
  • 4 peaches Ripe, peeled and diced.
Tomato base and sweetness
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
Tangy and savory liquids
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
Aromatics and spices
  • 3 garlic Minced cloves.
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.25 tsp cayenne
  • salt and pepper To taste.

  • 1 cast iron skillet
  • 1 Dutch oven

Method
 

Simmer the sauce
  1. Combine the diced peaches, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, and cayenne in a medium saucepan.
  2. Simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peaches break down and the sauce thickens to a spoon-coating consistency.
Blend and finish
  1. Blend until smooth using an immersion blender, stopping when the sauce looks glossy and uniform.
  2. Return to the pan and simmer for 5 more minutes if a thicker consistency is desired, stirring until the sauce clings to the spoon.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then stir until fully incorporated.
Chill and store
  1. Cool completely, then refrigerate for up to 2 weeks in a sealed container.

Notes

For best texture, keep stirring during the last 10 minutes so the peaches fully soften and the sauce thickens evenly. Refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks; freeze in portions for up to 2 months. For a gluten-free swap, use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce and gluten-free soy sauce.
