Ingredients

Meatballs
  • 2 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp smoked paprika
Whiskey Peach BBQ Sauce
  • 2 cup fresh peach puree
  • 0.25 cup whiskey
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan
  • 1 cast iron skillet

Method

Prep and bake the meatballs
  1. Preheat the oven to 400F and line a sheet pan with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and smoked paprika, then roll into 1.5-inch meatballs.
  3. Bake the meatballs at 400F for 18-20 minutes until cooked through, keeping them evenly spaced so they brown.
Simmer the whiskey peach BBQ sauce
  1. In a saucepan, combine peach puree, whiskey, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and cayenne.
  2. Simmer over medium heat for 12 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  3. Add the baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer together for 5-10 minutes so the meatballs absorb the flavor.
Serve
  1. Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a serving dish with a thick, spoon-coating layer.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with toothpicks for easy party dipping.

Notes

For the deepest caramelized coating, let the meatballs rest in the warm sauce for 10 minutes before serving. Refrigerate leftovers in a covered container for up to 4 days; reheat gently in a saucepan over low heat until hot. Freezing is not recommended because the peach sauce can change texture. For a gluten-free option, swap the breadcrumbs for gluten-free breadcrumbs and use gluten-free Worcestershire sauce if needed.
