Method
Fill the cereal bags
- Carefully open each snack bag of cereal and leave the cereal inside (don’t remove it). Keep the bag mostly open so you can add the s’mores mix easily.
- Add 1/4 cup mini marshmallows and 1/4 cup chocolate chips to each opened bag. Spread the add-ins into the cereal so they melt throughout the bag.
Melt near campfire heat
- Seal bags loosely or roll down the top to keep the contents in while letting heat circulate. The goal is a small opening restraint—don’t fully seal tightly.
- Place bags near (not directly on) campfire heat for 3-5 minutes, rotating occasionally. Watch for the visual cue of chocolate and marshmallows turning glossy and melted.
- Gently shake each bag to mix the melted chocolate and marshmallows through the cereal. Stop when the texture looks evenly combined with a thick, melty coating.
Serve
- Eat the s'mores directly from the bag or use a spoon to scoop. Enjoy while warm, when the marshmallows are fully melted.
Notes
Pro tip: Position the bags close enough to melt the chocolate and marshmallows but not so close they scorch—rotating every minute helps keep everything evenly melted. Store leftovers in a covered container in the fridge up to 2 days, then rewarm gently near low heat; freezing is not recommended because the melted texture changes. For a dietary swap, use dairy-free chocolate chips and marshmallows.
