Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Combine the crunchy base
  1. Add caramel popcorn, pretzels or pretzel sticks, mixed nuts or peanuts, corn Chex cereal, and chocolate chips or fall-colored chips to a large bowl and toss to combine evenly.
  2. Melt the white chocolate, tinting orange with food coloring if desired.
Drizzle and set
  1. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the snack mix and toss gently until the pieces look lightly coated.
  2. Spread the mix on a parchment-lined sheet and let set at room temperature for 10 minutes, until the drizzle looks matte and firm.
Finish and store
  1. Break apart any clumps, then fold in candy corn and autumn M&Ms or orange and yellow candy-coated chocolate.
  2. Store the scarecrow crunch snack mix in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

Notes

Pro tip: For the cleanest drizzle, melt white chocolate gently and use steady, thin ribbons so it sets without pooling. Store in an airtight container up to 1 week; freezing is not recommended because the candy coatings can lose texture. If you need a nut-free version, swap the mixed nuts/peanuts for salted sunflower kernels while keeping everything else the same.
