Privacy Policy

Who we are

Cooked by Heart, found at https://cookedbyheart.com (“Website”), is governed by this Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Policy explains what personal information we collect and how we use it. It applies only to this Website.

Information we collect and how we use it

1) Information you voluntarily provide
We may collect personal information (e.g., name, email address) when you leave a comment, subscribe to our newsletter, create an account, or submit a contact form.

2) Information collected automatically
When you use the Website, we may log information about your device and interaction with the site, including IP address, operating system, browser type, referring site, pages viewed, links clicked, and dates/times of access.

3) Cookies
We use cookies (small data files stored in your browser) to remember preferences and improve your experience. We use both session cookies (expire when the browser closes) and persistent cookies (remain until deleted). Third-party services we use may also set cookies (see “Third-party services” below).

How we use your information

We may use information to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Website;
  • Send newsletters and promotional communications (you may unsubscribe at any time);
  • Send administrative messages (confirmations, technical notices, policy/security updates);
  • Respond to comments and inquiries and provide user support;
  • Analyze performance and measure/understand content and ad effectiveness;
  • Protect the Website against unauthorized or illegal activity and enforce our terms.

Third-party use of personal information

We may share your information with third parties when you explicitly authorize us to do so. We also use third-party service providers to operate selected aspects of the Website. Each provider’s use of your information is governed by its own privacy policy.

Current third-party services we use include (non-exhaustive):

  • Google Analytics – Provides website usage analytics (e.g., referring sites, user interactions). Google Analytics may capture your IP address.
  • Email Service Provider – Delivers email updates and newsletters. We store your name and email to send communications. See your provider’s privacy policy for details.

Sassy Social Share – compliance notice

  • Embedded widgets & third-party APIs: The “Sassy Social Share” plugin may load embedded widgets (e.g., official Like/Tweet buttons) and request data from third-party APIs via your browser. These requests may include your IP address; no other personal data is sent by the plugin.
  • Data storage: The plugin operates on our Website and does not store fetched data on external servers; related data may be stored in our Website’s database.
  • External scripts: The plugin may load scripts from third-party services to render widgets. See each service’s privacy policy for their data handling practices.
  • For GDPR details, see the developer’s documentation.

Advertising & Monetization — Grow by Mediavine

We use Grow by Mediavine and related Mediavine services to help manage audience tools (e.g., sign-ups, favorites, recommendations) and to facilitate advertising/monetization on the Website. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to deliver, measure, and optimize content and advertising—including contextual and interest-based ads—and to understand how users engage with our pages.

  • Data that may be collected: Cookies/unique identifiers, IP address, device information, general location (derived from IP), and usage data.
  • How data is used: To provide, personalize, measure, and improve ads and Website features; perform analytics; prevent fraud and ensure ad quality; and comply with legal obligations.
  • Your choices (opt-out & controls):
    • Manage cookies via your browser settings (block/delete).
    • Opt out of interest-based advertising from many providers via industry tools such as the DAA/NAI choices pages (where available).
    • Review options in Mediavine/Grow’s Privacy Policy and product interfaces for additional controls.

Note: Opting out of personalized ads won’t remove ads; they may simply be less tailored.

Cookies (more detail)

We use cookies to store preferences, record which pages you access, reduce repeat banners, customize content for your browser/device, and support analytics and advertising (as described above). You can disable or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. If you do, some features may not function properly.

Anonymous/aggregated data

We may use or share aggregated, de-identified data (which does not identify you) for analytics, marketing, or other purposes.

Sensitive personal information

Please do not submit sensitive personal information to the Website (e.g., national ID numbers, racial/ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health data, criminal background, union membership). If you choose to share such information, it will be handled according to this Policy.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, update, or delete your data; to object to or restrict processing; and to withdraw consent where applicable. To make a request, contact us using the information below. We may verify your identity before responding.

California Privacy (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights, including the right to know/access, correct, delete certain personal information, and opt out of certain data sharing or targeted advertising. To exercise these rights, contact us (see “Contact us”). We do not sell personal information as “sell” is defined under California law.

Children’s information

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or higher where required by local law). If you believe we have such information, contact us so we can delete it.

Data security & retention

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Do Not Track

Because there is no industry consensus on responding to “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals, we do not currently act on these signals.

Links to other websites

Our Website may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Business transfers

If we undergo a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, as permitted by law.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will reflect the most recent revision.
